red deer soundchamber drum

The frame of this 50 cm/20 inch drum has been created with double layers and a hollow space in between them. The wholes that are made in the inner layer create an extra sound chamber, and this drum really has a poweful sound. 

The outside layer is black oak, i wondered why it was called that way. But by putting it in the water to soak before steambending, the water turned inky black immediately.

The inner layer is French oak.

The gemstone used is a powerful yellow healer. 

The stag skin comes from Ireland, wildlife.

It is very eady to adjust the sound of this drum, just by moving the toggles towards the frame for more tension, and back to the center to slacken them. 

Seen the double layers of oak, this is not a light weight drum. But you can rest the branch where the skin is sewn around on your knee without loosing the vibration if you want to play for a longer time.
